Consultation: Rural Crime Strategy
Commissioner John Campion is ensuring that rural issues are heard, and communities feel less isolated.
A third of West Mercia’s population lives in a rural area (double that of England population) rising to 50% in Herefordshire and Shropshire.
The Commissioners new strategy, launching to coincide with NPCC (the National Police Chief’s Councils) Wildlife and Rural Crime Week of Action outlines how the commissioner will:
- Improve confidence that rural communities have in the police.
- Ensure the financial resources he has committed to rural crime, provide a dedicated team within each policing area.
- Ensure victims of crime in rural areas receive the support they need, and are not disadvantaged by their location.
The Commissioner’s strategy was out for consultation until Friday 8th November, and the final version will be published in due course.
