The Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) and the Chief Constable for West Mercia are looking for people who have a good understanding and experience of public sector legislation and guidance, who are also politically neutral, to sit as members on the Joint Independent Audit and Standards Committee.

The Committee reviews and scrutinises the affairs of the organisations, looking at issues such as:

  • risk management,
  • internal control
  • corporate governance
  • overseeing audit arrangements
  • reviewing financial statements.

The appointments will initially be for a two year period from May 2024 to May 2026.

Applicants are required to be over the age of 18, live or work in the West Mercia area of Herefordshire, Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and Worcestershire, and be able to attend meetings at Police Headquarters, Hindlip, Worcestershire, during the working day. Successful applicants will be subject to a police vetting check. Serving police officers and police staff are not eligible for this role.

The successful applicants will receive training and an annual allowance including expenses for travelling to Police Headquarters. Meetings are normally held on a quarterly basis
