In Herefordshire, confidence in the police has continued to remain high with 79% of residents and victims of crime surveyed confident they would receive a good service from West Mercia Police.

88% of respondents from Herefordshire do not think crime and anti-social behaviour are problems in their local area. The PCC is working closely with West Mercia Police and partners to prevent crime and ASB by funding projects that make a real difference like upgrading existing and installing new CCTV cameras.

Other key findings from the Herefordshire survey include:

  • 71% believe West Mercia Police understands the issues in Herefordshire.
  • 88% of people are confident they could access the police in an emergency.
  • A majority (58%) of those surveyed feel the police are doing either an excellent or good job.

Police and Crime Commissioner John Campion said: “I welcome the overwhelming support for West Mercia Police, it’s important that communities in Herefordshire back the force to deliver on their priorities.

“As your voice in policing, I will continue to support your police force with the resources and tools it needs to make a real difference in your community.

“I am fully committed to ensuring you are safe and feel safe so it’s brilliant to see a majority of Herefordshire respondents feel crime and anti-social behaviour are not problems in their area. However, I am acutely aware that this isn’t job done but a solid foundation on which to build further.”
