9 out of 10 people who completed the latest perceptions survey, ran by Police and Crime Commissioner John Campion, support the work West Mercia Police is doing in their community.

In North Worcestershire, confidence in the police has continued to remain high with 80% of residents and victims of crime surveyed confident they would receive a good service from West Mercia Police.

Across West Mercia, 57% of respondents feel informed about the work West Mercia Police is doing, a 19% increase from January to March 2022.

Utilising tools like Neighbourhood Matters and social media to promote the work of local policing teams in North Worcestershire is having a positive impact with more than half of residents (57%), an increase of 3%, aware of the work going on in their community.

Other key findings from the North Worcestershire survey include:

  • 74% believe West Mercia Police understands the issues in North Worcestershire.
  • 89% of people are confident they could access the police in an emergency, remaining the same as the last survey.
  • A majority (61%) of those surveyed feel the police are doing either an excellent or good job.

Police and Crime Commissioner John Campion said: “I welcome the overwhelming support for West Mercia Police, it’s important that communities in North Worcestershire back the force to deliver on their priorities.

“As the voice of the public in policing, it’s brilliant to see more and more residents signing up to Neighbourhood Matters and local Safer Neighbourhood Teams embracing the channel to send out regular news and updates.

“I will continue to ensure the force has the resources and tools it needs, to grow its communication channels like Neighbourhood Matters and social media, so residents are kept informed about the brilliant work they are doing to build a more secure West Mercia.”
