PCC John Campion has welcomed the Government’s budget which will support in delivering a safer West Mercia.

The latest announcement highlighted additional investments for policing, such as programmes to reduce crime and drugs misuse, and funding to tackle money laundering and fraud. The Government also focused on victim’s services, violence against women and girls (VAWG) and additional funding was announced for police forces to complete the recruitment of the final 8,000 police officers.

PCC John Campion said: “This announcement is a positive step for communities and policing. As Commissioner I am pleased to have the support from the Government in delivering a safer West Mercia and building on the transformation work we’re already doing here.

“The Government has played their part by listening to the concerns of the public, and ensured the funding is focused on these areas of concern. This additional money will also ensure that the new police officers that join West Mercia will have the resources they need to carry out their roles effectively.”
