The West Mercia Police and Crime Commissioner has welcomed Her Majesty’s Inspector of Constabulary (HMIC) PEEL reports into efficiency, effectiveness and legitimacy, in which West Mercia Police has been assessed as ‘good’ in all three areas.

West Mercia’s Police and Crime Commissioner John Campion said: “I have made key promises to our communities around putting victims first, and delivering a secure, reformed and reassured West Mercia. These independent reports from HMIC shows how aspects of all those promises are being delivered efficiently and effectively by our police service.

The reports showed the force is treating people fairly, using its authority appropriately and adapting, not just to meet demand, but to provide a level of service that victims should expect.

I particularly welcomed the effectiveness report which showed our communities are getting a better service now than they were a year ago. I promised that improvements would be made and I have delivered on this.

This is, however, just the first step forward. With the hard work and professionalism of West Mercia’s officers and staff, we will build from this strong foundation, to build an even safer, more secure and reassured West Mercia.”
