The West Mercia Police and Crime Commissioner has fulfilled his commitment of bringing officers numbers in West Mercia, back to the highest level since 2012.

Since the PCC pledged to invest back in February, 250 additional officers have been recruited bringing the total number of full time officers today to 2152. A large proportion of these officers are on the streets already, with the final intake of recruits associated with this uplift, recruited and completing their training, ready to be out in communities in June 2020.

Commissioner John Campion said “I promised to bring officer numbers up to 2145 by the end of the financial year, after the public asked for more visible policing. I have delivered more officers than promised, and four months earlier than promised. Our communities will start to see the benefit of this, as the uplift in officers will improve the service, make the police more accessible and ultimately make West Mercia safer.”

Recruitment for new officers is continuing. For more information and to apply click here.
