Dear Barry,

Thank you for your letter dated 21st March 2025, confirming the Police and Crime Panel’s unanimous support for Richard Cooper to become the substantive Chief Constable of West Mercia Police.

Richard’s appointment is now finalised, with him commencing in his new substantive post as of 31st March 2025.

I am grateful to the Panel for its support for both Richard and the process by which he was appointed. His confirmation in role marks a significant positive step for the police force and the communities it serves.
