More than £350,000 is going towards supporting victims of domestic abuse (DA) and sexual violence (SV) across West Mercia. Following the dedicated work Police and Crime Commissioner John Campion has secured further funding to support these vulnerable members of the community, a key priority in his Safer West Mercia Plan.

Following a successful bid to the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) Critical Support Fund, the money secured by PCC Campion will be shared between AXIS, PEGS, The Shropshire Domestic Abuse Service and West Mercia Rape and Sexual Abuse Support Centre. They all focus on supporting DA and SV victims to work with the residents of West Mercia in order to  protect victims from potentially further harm.

Commissioner John Campion said: “My commitment to victims of domestic abuse and sexual violence is greatly enhanced when we are able to offer funding such as this to very worthy organisations across the force area. There are too many victims who do not receive the help they deserve or need and I hope this funding offers support and reassurance that we are trying to tackle it.

“This funding alongside funding already secured aims to offer the best support to the victims across our force area, and allow our community to not only be safer but feel safer.”
