Focused on ensuring the voice of the public is at the heart of change, Police and Crime Commissioner John Campion is hosting two online events looking at rural crime.
Farmers, landowners, and residents from rural communities are invited to voice their views, experiences and concerns to improve the service they receive from West Mercia Police.
Understanding crime in rural communities is different to that in urban areas, and that each county in West Mercia has unique challenges, the first session on Monday 19 May at 6pm will be an opportunity for residents in Herefordshire and Worcestershire to have their say.
On Wednesday 21 May, residents from Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin will have their chance too.
Anyone interested in attending one of the online sessions can register their interest by 12pm on Friday 16 May – www.westmercia-pcc.gov.uk/ruralcrime.
The feedback received from both sessions will help shape the next Assurance & Accountability meeting, being shared by the PCC with West Mercia Police’s Chief Constable, Richard Cooper on Monday 3 June. The meeting will be filmed and made available to the public.
Police and Crime Commissioner John Campion said: “I know we can do more to ensure the voices of our rural communities, who are too often unheard, are amplified.
“Crimes impacting those communities are largely different to those we see in our towns and cities, so it’s important West Mercia Police can meet those challenges and deliver the high-quality service they both expect and deserve.
“As your voice in policing, I will be out speaking to rural communities over the coming weeks, as well as hosting two online events, with the feedback received being raised directly with the Chief Constable.”
