Permanent Contract

Part Time – 780 annualised hours (equivalent to 15 hours per week), with flexibility to prioritise and/or increase these hours by agreement during periods of peak financial and strategic demand for the Commissioner.

Salary £35,089 – £38,279

The Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) for West Mercia is looking for an experienced Treasurer to oversee financial strategy development and implementation and financial probity across policing and crime in West Mercia. 

The successful candidate will be the principal financial adviser to the PCC and lead on the preparation of financial strategies to achieve the commissioner’s objectives. They will make sure resources are effectively managed for a strong, resilient and sustainable police force, achieving best value for the public, ensuring transparency and contributing to reassurance and public confidence.

They will work with the Chief Constable and the Force chief finance officer to ensure that the PCC’s strategies are resourced and implemented in a timely and cost-effective way, and that the force’s resources are managed effectively, supporting oversight for the PCC. They will ensure that high standards of financial governance and control are maintained for all aspects of the Commissioner’s activities. 

This is a statutory role and the responsibilities of the Treasurer are set out in the Police Reform and Social Responsibility Act 2011 and the Local Government Finance Act 1988. The post holder will be the section 151 Officer.
