In 2024, 56 people were killed and 516 were seriously injured in road traffic collisions across West Mercia.
As part of PCC John Campion’s ongoing focus on reducing harm on our roads, he wants to work with communities to understand what really matters to them in the next phase of his Roads Focus campaign.
Ensuring the voice of the public is at the heart of change, the PCC is hosting four online sessions focusing on the top four vulnerable road users to understand their road safety concerns.
Tuesday 15 July – Motorcyclists
Thursday 17 July – Horse riders
Tuesday 22 July – Pedestrians (runners, walkers, etc)
Thursday 24 July – Cyclists
In each session, people will have the opportunity to have an open conversation with the PCC, as well as hear from West Mercia Police about the work already happening to tackle road safety concerns.
Each session will run from 6:00pm – 7:00pm and will be held on Teams. People can register their interest here.
Following each session, the PCC will take the views of the different groups to help drive change by working with partners to make positive impact on our roads.
Police and Crime Commissioner John Campion said: “At the heart of my Safer Communities Plan is a commitment to tackle road safety across Herefordshire, Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and Worcestershire as it’s a sad fact that too many people are killed or seriously injured on our roads.
“Road safety continues to be the top post bag item from residents, which is why I am launching the next phase of my Roads Focus campaign.
“Building on the successful of previous sessions, and the road safety conference that I held earlier this year, I want the next phase of this campaign to focus on the top four vulnerable road users to understand what we can do to improve road safety for them. I look forward to meeting with them and involving them in making key changes in their community.”
